Today I stood outside our Capitol with @MomsDemand and my legislative colleagues to address gun violence. Inaction in the face of the continued massacre of our family, friends, and children is not an option. Common sense gun measures work and California is an example of their success.

Unsurprisingly, fewer guns mean fewer deaths. Residents of California are 25 percent less likely to die in mass shootings as compared to other states. However, we can still take more steps to reduce gun violence here.

Senate Majority Leader Emeritus Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) adjourned the Senate in memory of Richard Close on Feb. 17. He was president of the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association for more than 40 years and a recognized leader of the San Fernando Valley.

Senate Majority Leader Emeritus Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) adjourned the Senate in memory of Marty Morgenstern on Feb. 10. Morgenstern served as Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development for Gov. Jerry Brown and was a leader in the labor movement in California.

Senate Majority Leader Emeritus Bob Hertzberg adjourned the Senate in memory of Senator Gary K. Hart on February 7, 2022. Hart passed away January 27 at the age of 78. He served in the State Assembly from 1974 to 1982, and in the State Senate from 1982 to 1994. He then served as Secretary of Education to Gov. Gray Davis.
