SACRAMENTO – Senate Majority Leader Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) announced today that he has named the San Fernando Valley’s Fitness Girl Bootcamp as his Small Business of the Year.
Fitness Girl Bootcamp is an all-women fitness studio that opened its doors in 2015 in Mission Hills. Several years before, owner Marisol Rodriguez began teaching exercise and dance classes in parks throughout the San Fernando Valley before she finally realized her dream of opening a studio of her own.
“Fitness Girl Bootcamp exemplifies why small businesses are so great,” said Senator Hertzberg. “Marisol has done an amazing job motivating her clients to transform their lives, and cultivating a supportive and tightknit community. She has worked relentlessly to build an incredible place in our community, and is more than deserving of this honor. ”
“6 years ago I began my career as a fitness coach in a park with 6 clients. Today I have the pleasure of coaching 150 women in my community, and I employ 3 coaches,” said Fitness Girl Bootcamp owner Marisol Rodriguez. “Running a small business as a single mom is hard, but this recognition gives me due to keep going, and the resolution hanging on my wall serves as a reminder of why it’s important for my doors to stay open.”
Senator Hertzberg recognized Fitness Girl Bootcamp as part of the California Small Business Association’s Small Business Day. The day brings small business leaders, legislators, and state agencies together to celebrate small business.
