Hertzberg Response to Mayor Garcetti’s Announcement to Recycle 100% of Los Angeles Wastewater by 2035
SACRAMENTO – Senate Majority Leader Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) released the following statement today in response to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s announcement to increase recycling capabilities at Hyperion — the largest treatment plant west of the Mississippi River.
“We all know Los Angeles is ground zero for water scarcity issues, so we have a unique responsibility to exhaust all options. At the state level, we’re going at this from every angle, and it is incredible that Los Angeles is now sending a message to all corners of the state that we’re taking a stand and rethinking our approach to water policy.”
Senator Hertzberg recently introduced SB 332, the Local Water Reliability Act, which would set similar wastewater recycling goals on a statewide level.
