Michael Bedard is Sen. Hertzberg's Chief of Staff. Michael previously served as Sen. Hertzberg's Legislative Director and Deputy Chief of Staff, before being promoted to Chief of Staff in June 2017. Prior to working for Sen. Hertzberg, Michael was Legislative Director for former Assemblymember Nancy Skinner. In 2010, he was selected for the California Council on Science and Technology’s science policy fellowship. Before coming to work for the California Legislature, Michael worked at the University of Texas at Austin on renewable energy materials. He received his Ph.D. in 2006 from UCLA in theoretical physical chemistry.

Elizabeth Bojorquez, Legislative Aide. Elizabeth works on several policy issue areas, including education, judiciary and agriculture. Before joining Sen. Hertzberg’s office in 2014, Elizabeth worked for Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett after receiving her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. Elizabeth was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles.
Terra Grantham, Scheduler. Terra manages Sen. Hertzberg’s schedule. She has worked in the Legislature for more than 16 years, serving former Sens. Gloria Negrete McLeod and Noreen Evans in previous jobs. She has an Associate Degree from Folsom Lake College.
Katie Hanzlik, Press Secretary. Katie manages all media requests and communications for Sen. Hertzberg. Before joining Sen. Hertzberg’s staff, Katie spent nearly 4 years developing and implementing strategic communications plans at a leading public affairs firm. Katie also has extensive local and statewide Democratic party experience, serving as Communications Chair of the Democratic Party of Sacramento County and Campaign Manager to CA Democratic Party Secretary Jenny Bach. Katie received her degree from UC Santa Barbara and began her career as an intern for then-Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg. [email]
Domonique Jones, Legislative Aide. Domonique served in Sen. Hertzberg's office in 2017 as a Senate Fellow, working on several bills, including SB 250, which prevents school lunch shaming. She is a graduate of UC Merced, where she was student body president.
Freddie Quintana, Legislative Director. Freddie manages Sen. Hertzberg's legislative package. Prior to joining Sen. Hertzberg's office, Freddie was Legislative Director to Assemblymember Marc Levine. Prior to that, he was Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for now Congressman, then-Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez. Quintana also served as Co-Chair of the California Latino Capitol Association from 2015-2016, and has over a decade of experience working with youth, both as a San Pedro High School Football coach and as a volunteer with the YMCA Youth & Government Program. A native of San Pedro, Quintana graduated from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Government.
Diane Griffiths is Sen. Hertzberg's former Chief of Staff. She retired in June 2017 but continues to assist the senator as "senior intern." A longtime veteran of the state Capitol, Diane served as Sen. Hertzberg's Chief of Staff during his years as Speaker of the Assembly. Previously, she was Chief of Staff to the UC Board of Regents and General Counsel to the California Fair Political Practices Commission. She has more than 20 years’ experience with the Legislature in a variety of legal, policy and administrative positions. She is a graduate of UC Berkeley’s Boalt Hall Law School.

The District Office is led by Barri Worth Girvan, who serves as District Director. A lifelong resident of the San Fernando Valley, Barri is the former director of government affairs for the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. She has also worked for the City of Los Angeles and the State Assembly. Barri is passionate about giving back to the Valley community and has served on multiple Valley-based nonprofits. She is heavily involved with Planned Parenthood in the Valley and serves as the co-chair of the Inspirational Women of the San Fernando Valley, an honor she earned herself in 2017. She is a graduate of UC San Diego and USC, where she earned her master's degree. Barri handles business, women's issues, interfaith and local government relations for the office while also covering the neighborhoods of Granada Hills, Lake Balboa, and Sherman Oaks. [e-mail]

Eveline Bravo-Ayala, District Representative. Eveline covers the neighborhoods of Arleta, North Hills, Pacoima, Panorama City, Sun Valley, Sylmar, and the City of San Fernando. She is an alumna of UCLA with a background in environmental issues, which she handles for the office. Mark Brown, District Representative. Mark represents the neighborhoods of North Hollywood, Studio City, Toluca Lake, Valley Glen, Valley Village, and the City of Burbank. In addition, he handles administrative responsibilities in the office and covers arts and entertainment, district event and meeting coordination, and environmental issues. Raj Dhillon, Deputy District Director. A resident of the San Fernando Valley, Raj graduated from CSUN with a B.A. in Political Science and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration at CSUN. During Raj’s first three years in the office as a District Representative, he launched and developed the most inclusive and comprehensive internship program in the State Legislature. He focuses on issues relating to social media, veterans, transportation, business, labor, and intergovernmental relations while helping manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the District Office. Steve Fukushima, District Representative. Steve focuses on technology and innovation, transportation, labor, and insurance issues for the office. Steve is a graduate of UCLA and was born and raised in Davis, California. [e-mail]
Anthony Garcia, District Representative. Initially working as the very first intern in the District Office, Anthony joined the staff to handle issues regarding public safety, healthcare, housing and homelessness, social services covering state agencies including the Employment Development Department, and general office operations. A longtime Valley resident and an alum of CSUN, Anthony represents the neighborhoods of Mission Hills and Lake View Terrace. [e-mail]
Jorge Reyes, District Representative. Jorge is a CSUN graduate with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and an M.A. in Communication Studies. He is a Valley resident and served as an intern in the District Office in early 2016. Jorge represents the neighborhoods of Van Nuys and Northridge for the office while handling issues relating to social services and transportation. [e-mail]
Samantha Stafford, District Representative A Valley resident, Sam began her work in the District Office as an intern in the internship program that she now manages. A UCLA graduate, Sam also handles issues pertaining to education, youth, veterans, arts and entertainment, office operations, and constituent correspondence. David Fleming, Senior Advisor. A legendary Valley business leader, David advises on economic development and finance reform. Named by former Mayor Richard Riordan "Mr. San Fernando Valley," David participated in development of a new city charter for L.A. in 1999. He is the recipient of numerous civic achievement awards and has served on multiple community organization boards. David graduated from the UCLA School of Law and is a longtime Valley resident.
